8 Arches:

Here is the roof of a beautiful church in Detroit that has been sitting empty for over a decade. The scrappers have recently found this place, or at least gained access, so it seems like only a matter of time before these lights fixtures will vanish. As you can see in the lower right portion of the picture here the roof has already failed and the damage from the elements is about to enter a pretty aggressive state. The ornamentation that is still present throughout will soon fall away from the underlying structural members just as the ceiling already has in some locations. After the scavengers are done and another winter takes its toll I wonder what this gorgeous building will look like in the spring.View LARGE On Black Background 8 Arches:

urban archaeology:

Unedited (crop only)
I’m not really a self-portrait kind of dude, but I took this a while ago and don’t feel like editing today. So here’s my 2 minute post; this was probably the coolest *empty* room I’ve ever shot in… urban archaeology:

Distant Neighbours:

In the sutumn, a funny thing happens on certain evenings. In the far distance, I can suddenly see silhouettes where I usually only see the flatness of the horizon.
Distant mountains or cumulus clouds?
It happens year after year and the sudden curves are always in the same place. Is it Africa? Suddenly brought close by an odd refraction of the light? Or just a common cloud formation that only appears this time of year? Distant Neighbours:
